Quinn

Quinn is a beautiful 3yo fawn female Great Dane. For the last year, she has worked on her social skills and becoming a healthy dog. She's had a rough start in life. She has been well cared for and loved for the last year but her owners do not have the time or space she needs and deserves so they have made the difficult decision to find her a new home. She can be a little nervous with initial introductions with people so a family that will not encourage "needy" and or insecure behavior is imperative.

Quinn has lived with cats, children, and another female Dane. She is rough with initial introductions with other dogs and her family reports she tends to be dominant. Proper desensitization, training tools and techniques, along with realistic expectations can all help with that. She was introduced to a calm male Dane and she seemed to manage it well. She does look for guidance from her handler. She's a super smart girl with an incredibly beautiful face! She's a petite girl too weighing in at about 100lbs. She will require basic obedience and plenty of exercise so her new family should plan to commit some time to these sorts of things.

Quinn is new to rescue so stay tuned for updates.

Lorelai

Lorelai is a 2yo female, fawn, Great Dane. For the last year, she has worked on her social skills and becoming a healthy dog. She's had a rough start in life. She has been well cared for and loved for the last year but her owners do not have the time or space she needs and deserves so they have made the difficult decision to find her a new home.

Lorelai has lived with cats, children, and another female Dane. Lorelai does tend to be a little bit more on the nervous side so owners that foster security, independence, and strength, are imperative for her.  Owners should also plan on regualr exercise to help with that. She's very sweet and she's very playful with other dogs. She's a petite girl too weighing in at about 100lbs. She will require basic obedience and plenty of exercise so her new family should plan to commit some time to these sorts of things.

Sophie

Update: 01/05 - It really is a "feet" of monumental proportion!!!! Sophie came into rescue (a year ago in August by the way) and wouldn't let ANYONE touch her feet. We had to sedate her for nail clippings. Her foster mother has been working diligently to desensitize her to a dremel tool. Today her foster mother had this to say: I only need mention the word, "toesies", and Sophie Ann now runs into the kitchen and flops down ready for her pedicure. (Nice nails mean squat to her, but beef chunks totally have her attention.)

Sophie is wonderfully sweet. She has a difficult time with initial dog introductions. To decrease that stress during placement, we feel it would be best to place her in a home where she is the only dog. She is great with all people, however, we also feel that she would do better in a home with children over 12.  Sophie had an extraordinarily difficult start in life and those scars run deep for her.  She has done some basic training while in rescue and we would encourage new owners to continue that journey with her. She's worth it!

Thor

Update: 1/05 - A little update on Thor. Last week he had a full blown seizure. We suspected he may have had one right after his eye surgery but we weren't 100% sure; now we know. He's had a physical and all seems to be in order. Right now, we are keeping a close eye on him and monitoring the frequency of seizure activity. We are not going to start him on any medication because he isn't having them often enough to warrant that. Poor guy, unfortunately it is common for white and deaf Danes to also have epilepsy.

He is thriving in his foster home though and coming along beautifully with his training. What a wonderful and super boy he is! His medical bills now have reached about $1700.
